Combines chilling psychological Halloween season horror with other scary notions like medical experimentation, death row, criminal redemption as an extinct idea, and religious tyranny.

AGORA: Dragged from her chariot by a mob of fanatical vigilante Christian monks, the revered astronomer was stripped naked, skinned to her bones with sharp oyster shells, stoned and burned alive as possibly the first executed witch in history. A kind of purge that was apparently big business back then.

The Lazarus Project is quite a good flick!
ReplyDeleteComment on story The Lazarus Project DVD Review
This is quite a good flick! I only heard about it from a preview attached to the film, "Smart People", and when I got to the video store I could not remember the name and had to scan every title until I found it.
I usually don't risk the investment of an hour and half on a straight to DVD release but I was quite surprised by the film. The guy who played the head doctor or warden or whatever he was, was instantly recognizable as the warden from "The Shawshank Redemption." I forget his name, but he is a great character actor.
These types of psychological thrillers always entertain me and this film, with a marketing campaign that seemed designed to hide the film from view, is worth checking out. Yours is the only review linked to Rotten Tomatoes so you are at least someone that is spreading the word about this great little film.
Keep up the good work,
Bob
